At this October’s HealthCare Design Conference we immersed visitors in a 3D inpatient room mock-up, empowering users to experience and test real-life patient scenarios first-hand across multiple design alternates.
As a platinum sponsor, Architecture Interactive supported HealthCare Design Conference’s Patient Empowered Room Project. The Institute for Patient-Centered Design, Inc. developed a hands-on workshop at HCD 2012 that demonstrated the importance of patient-centered design. The workshop featured a full scale physical mockup of an inpatient room by Kahler Slater and a side-by-side virtual mock-up of the same space.
Users found it to be a powerful showing of the value our virtual reality solution provides over physical mock-ups. Using a stereoscopic head-mounted display, visitors explored the virtual inpatient room design just like a patient would, evaluating accessibility, safety, and lines of sight.
